NARUTO & BORUTO Shinobi-Zato: Plan Your Awaji Island Visit

Information checked: 25 October 2026 · Research-based guide; no personal visit claimed.

    In this guide
    1. What you are visiting
    2. Compare the ticket before booking
    3. Plan access from your actual base
    4. A comfortable day structure
    5. Clothes, weather and your group
    6. Keep your Kansai trip realistic
    7. Official sources

Turn your NARUTO enthusiasm into an Awaji Island day out. Choose the right ticket, check your journey from the mainland and leave time to enjoy the missions without rushing for the last bus.

    What you are visiting

NARUTO & BORUTO Shinobi-Zato is an official themed attraction at Nijigen no Mori in Hyogo Prefectural Awajishima Park. Expect a designed ninja-world experience, including a maze and mission activities. It is not presented here as a real town used as the setting of an anime scene.

The park address is 2425-2 Kusumoto, Awaji City, Hyogo. Awaji Island is a different destination from central Osaka or Kyoto: put the actual park journey into your itinerary before buying a time-sensitive ticket.

    Compare the ticket before booking

At our 25 October 2026 check, the official price page listed the following adult bands. These are reference prices, not a quote for your date.

Ticket Adult price shown Main distinction
Light ¥3,300–4,100 Admission, Ten-no-maki maze, Chi-no-maki mission rally and dusk projection mapping
Gold ¥4,800–5,600 Light contents plus one special mission

Swipe the table on mobile. Adult category is shown for ages 12 and above / junior high school and above; review the operator’s exact age rules.

Prices vary by date and season. Higher tiers, children’s tickets and optional activities have their own conditions. Compare what you will actually use rather than choosing the most expensive name. Check the current calendar, admission conditions and cancellation terms on the official booking route.

Check official tickets and operating information ↗

Plan access from your actual base

Use Nijigen no Mori’s official access page to choose a current route from Osaka, Kobe or another starting point. Driving estimates are not public-transport journey times. For a bus journey, check the boarding location, operating day, arrival stop and the walk from that stop to Shinobi-Zato.

The park has several attraction areas. If driving, the official access page identifies Parking E as nearest to NARUTO & BORUTO. A parking recommendation for a different attraction may leave you with a different walk.

Open the official transport and parking guide ↗

    A comfortable day structure

    1. Before departure: save your ticket, route and return options, and check the day’s operating notices.
    2. On arrival: find the correct attraction entrance and ask about any activity instructions you need.
    3. During the visit: leave space for missions, photos, a meal and breaks rather than filling every minute with another park attraction.
    4. Before staying later: confirm whether your chosen activities and return transport still work together.

This is an editorial planning framework, not a route we have timed on site. If projection mapping matters to you, check its actual operation and timing for your date before deciding how late to stay. “Last reception” on an hours page should not be read as the park’s closing time.

    Clothes, weather and your group

The attraction’s FAQ recommends comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for walking and notes steep stairs and slippery ground in rain. Plan a practical outfit and check weather-related notices before traveling. If a member of your group has access needs, check the relevant activities with the operator before purchase.

Review the language of mission materials and instructions, age or accompaniment requirements, food suitability and any optional activity restrictions for your group. Do not assume every mission or ticket extra will suit every visitor.

    Keep your Kansai trip realistic

Give Awaji its own space in your schedule. For a first visit, one main attraction plus travel and a meal is a sensible planning starting point. Add other experiences only after checking distances, opening times and your energy.

Keep transport, admission, food and merchandise as separate budget lines. This guide uses ordinary official information links and receives no booking commission.

ONE PIECE in Kumamoto: The 10 Statues and a Practical First Visit

Information checked: 25 October 2026 · Research-based guide; no personal visit claimed.

    1. What kind of pilgrimage is this?
    2. Where to find all ten crew members
    3. Start with Luffy in Kumamoto City
    4. Choose a first visit, not a completion race
    5. Check the return journey first
    6. Visit with the recovery story in mind
    7. Official sources

Meet the Straw Hat crew across Kumamoto, and give the places between the statues room in your trip. Start with Luffy in the city, then choose a regional outing that your transport can support.

What kind of pilgrimage is this?

The statues belong to the ONE PIECE Kumamoto Revival Project, supporting the region after the 2016 earthquakes. Creator Eiichiro Oda is from Kumamoto City. These are commemorative destinations connected with the series and its creator; this guide does not present their surroundings as locations reproduced in anime scenes.

Where to find all ten crew members

The locations below follow the Sanko Bus operator’s statue map. Open its current access details before choosing your stops.

    Character Location
Luffy Kumamoto Prefectural Office, Kumamoto City
Chopper Kumamoto City Zoo and Botanical Garden
    Sanji Minaterasu, Mashiki
    Brook Fureai Hiroba, Mifune
    Zoro Ozu Central Park, Ozu
Nami Tawarayama Koryukan Moe no Sato, Nishihara
Robin Former Tokai University Aso Campus, Minamiaso
Usopp In front of Aso Station, Aso
Franky In front of Takamori Station, Takamori
    Jinbe Sumiyoshi Kaigan Park, Uto

On a narrow screen, swipe the table horizontally.

Start with Luffy in Kumamoto City

The city’s official tourism listing places Luffy on the promenade in front of the prefectural office, at 6-18-1 Suizenji, Chuo-ku. Viewing is listed as free. Its access guidance names the Kumamoto Kencho-mae bus stop, or Shiritsu Taiikukan-mae tram stop followed by approximately ten minutes on foot.

Use your actual accommodation as the starting point when checking transport. A station name alone is not a complete journey: confirm the boarding direction, destination and walk to the statue. Save the address offline before leaving.

Choose a first visit, not a completion race

City starter: make Luffy your anchor and leave space for a meal and another Kumamoto activity. Consider Chopper separately after checking the zoo’s current visitor information, entry arrangements and operating calendar.

Regional outing: choose the character you most want to see, then build that day around the municipality and its transport. The map covers several towns and villages; being on the same prefectural map does not make every pair of statues a convenient connection.

Full collection: plan it as a dedicated journey. We have not timed a ten-statue circuit and do not recommend promising yourself all ten in one day from this overview.

    Check the return journey first

    1. Open the operator’s map and the exact statue’s access information.
    2. Check outward and return services for your travel date, including weekends and holidays.
    3. Allow for walking, food, photos and a missed connection.
    4. If driving, confirm parking at each stop and leave the driver time to rest.
    5. Keep one optional stop that can be dropped if the day runs late.

A location beside a railway station does not guarantee frequent trains or a convenient onward route. Do not choose accommodation solely because a map pin looks close to several characters.

Visit with the recovery story in mind

Read local signs and respect any memorial or educational spaces near your stop. Keep paths clear for residents and other visitors, avoid climbing on statues, and follow site photography rules. The journey works best when the surrounding communities are part of the experience.

Budget separately for regional transport, accommodation, food and any facility admission. We do not promise merchandise availability or a particular tour departure.

Pokémon Cafe in Japan: Tokyo and Osaka Reservation Checklist

Start from the official Pokémon Cafe reservation page, choose Tokyo or Osaka carefully, and build your day around a confirmed time. Shopping at a Pokémon Center and getting a cafe seat are separate decisions.

Information checked: 24 October 2026 · Research-based guide; no personal visit claimed.

    In this guide
    1. The essentials before you book
    2. Find the right venue first
    3. Use this booking checklist
    4. What the official FAQ says to watch
    5. After you get a confirmation
    6. If no suitable time is available
    7. Questions to resolve before your visit
    8. Official sources

    The essentials before you book

    • Use the official reservation links for the correct city.
    • Check current opening dates and release rules rather than relying on an old booking tutorial.
    • Include children in the party count and read the current seating conditions.
    • Save the final confirmation and arrival instructions before planning transport.

Open official Tokyo and Osaka reservation links ↗

    Find the right venue first

The official reservation page provides different links for Tokyo and Osaka. Before choosing a time, check the city name and venue details on the booking page. A tab left open from an earlier search is an easy way to compare the wrong location.

The Tokyo cafe is in Nihombashi. Pikachu Sweets in Ikebukuro is a separate destination, and a Pokémon Center shopping plan is not a dining reservation. Use our Pokémon Japan guide to choose the stop that actually fits your day.

    Use this booking checklist

    1. Check current notices. Follow the official cafe NEWS and reservation pages for the dates currently offered. Do not treat a fixed “days ahead” formula from an old article as a permanent rule.
    2. Confirm the party. The official FAQ says to include children aged zero and above. Read the current seat-type limits for the city you selected.
    3. Use an email account you can access. Complete the required verification and keep the final confirmation. A verification email alone is not the same as a completed booking.
    4. Review optional extras separately. Read the payment and change conditions for any goods offered during booking before adding them.
    5. Check the result. Use the official confirmation route if you are uncertain whether the booking completed. Do not build a non-refundable travel plan around an unconfirmed attempt.

What the official FAQ says to watch

At our check, the official FAQ described the cafe as reservation-based, warned that the start date and dates offered can change, and noted that party size cannot be changed after booking. It also states that group seating requests are not guaranteed. Read the current FAQ before submitting your own reservation.

These points are useful because the important decision is not just whether a slot appears: the booking must match your city, party and travel plans. We do not operate a reservation service or guarantee availability.

    After you get a confirmation

Save the venue address, reservation time and the instructions in your confirmation. Plan a buffer for finding the correct building and floor. Recheck arrival, cancellation and visit-duration conditions directly with the cafe rather than assuming that another themed restaurant’s rules apply.

If you want to browse a nearby shop, put that activity before or after the confirmed cafe slot with enough spare time. Do not let a shopping queue make you late for a reservation you care about.

If no suitable time is available

Keep the wider Pokémon trip. You can choose a Center that fits your route, enjoy the surrounding neighborhood, and check the official reservation system again if your schedule allows. A cafe seat is a bonus to plan around, not a requirement for enjoying Pokémon in Japan.

Do not treat a third party’s availability claim as the cafe’s confirmation. If using any external service, independently check what it actually supplies and its terms before sharing information or paying. This guide links directly to official sources and receives no booking commission.

Questions to resolve before your visit

    • Does your confirmation show the right city and date?
    • Have you included every guest?
    • Do you understand the cancellation and optional-goods conditions?
    • Have you checked food suitability and the venue’s own allergy information?
    • Do you know how to reach the building and which floor to use?

Pokémon in Japan: Centers, Cafes and a Tokyo Starter Route

Make Pokémon part of your Japan trip without spending every day crossing the city between shops. Choose one neighborhood you already want to explore, pick the Pokémon stop that fits it, and treat a cafe reservation as a separate plan.

    Choose your Pokémon day

    • Already visiting Ikebukuro? Start with MEGA TOKYO and consider Pikachu Sweets in Sunshine City.
    • Want the Tokyo Pokémon Cafe? Plan around its confirmed reservation in Nihombashi, alongside TOKYO DX.
    • Exploring Shibuya? Add the Pokémon Center in Shibuya PARCO.
    • Heading to Tokyo Skytree? Consider SKYTREE TOWN in Solamachi.

This guide is an independent travel overview, not an official Pokémon publication or an inventory report. It includes ordinary official links, not affiliate booking links.

Pokémon Center, Pokémon Store and Pokémon Cafe are different stops

The official directory distinguishes Pokémon Centers, Pokémon Stores and cafes. Pick the actual venue you want rather than assuming every location offers shopping, table service and the same goods. A shop visit does not confirm a cafe seat, and a cafe booking does not establish that a particular product is in stock.

Four Tokyo Centers to fit into your route

Center Official location and hours checked Choose it when…
MEGA TOKYO Sunshine City alpa 2F, 3-1-2 Higashi-Ikebukuro; 10:00–20:00. You are building an Ikebukuro anime-shopping day.
TOKYO DX Nihombashi Takashimaya S.C. East Building 5F, 2-11-2 Nihombashi; 10:30–21:00. You have a Tokyo cafe reservation or other Nihombashi plans.
SHIBUYA Shibuya PARCO 6F, 15-1 Udagawa-cho; 10:00–21:00. Shibuya is already on your itinerary.
SKYTREE TOWN Tokyo Solamachi East Yard 4F, 1-1-2 Oshiage; 10:00–21:00. You are planning time around Skytree and Oshiage.

Hours were checked on 24 October 2026. They can change, and dated notices take priority. These are shopping destinations, not claims that their buildings are anime scene locations.

MEGA TOKYO: combine Pokémon with an Ikebukuro day

The official listing estimates about eight minutes on foot from Ikebukuro Station or three minutes from Higashi-Ikebukuro Station. Those are general access estimates, not a promise from every station exit or platform. Use the building directory for the shop floor.

Keep your visit focused: decide whether you want a particular item or simply time to browse. Nearby Pikachu Sweets is a different venue from the reservation-based Tokyo Pokémon Cafe. Its official listing places it in Sunshine City alpa 2F and gives hours of 10:00–20:00 at our check; review its own current menu and operating notices.

Build the rest of your Ikebukuro visit →

TOKYO DX: shop and cafe, planned separately

The official shop listing places TOKYO DX and Pokémon Cafe TOKYO in the Nihombashi Takashimaya S.C. East Building. If the cafe is your priority, secure the correct Tokyo reservation first and leave a comfortable arrival buffer. Do not confuse it with the Osaka cafe or with Pikachu Sweets.

Read our Pokémon Cafe reservation checklist →

Shibuya or Skytree: choose the neighborhood first

SHIBUYA and SKYTREE TOWN are useful choices when their surrounding areas already suit your trip. Visiting every Center is optional. If your main aim is a specific product, first check its official sale and availability information rather than assuming another branch will have it.

For a short trip, our suggested starting point is one Center plus time for the wider district. Add another only if it offers something you actually want and the journey still leaves room for meals and rest.

    A flexible Tokyo starter route

    1. Choose one anchor: Ikebukuro, Nihombashi, Shibuya or Oshiage.
    2. Check the official shop notice: confirm the address, current hours and any entry arrangements.
    3. Save the map: use the links below and confirm the exact branch name.
    4. Keep spending separate: budget for goods, food and transport rather than treating a shopping visit as a fixed-price attraction.
    5. Leave a backup: if the wanted item is unavailable, enjoy the district instead of making an unplanned cross-city dash.

This is planning advice, not a route timed on site. For anime shopping over two days, combine this guide with our Akihabara and Ikebukuro itinerary.

    Save your Tokyo map links

    MEGA TOKYO ↗ · TOKYO DX ↗ · SHIBUYA ↗ · SKYTREE TOWN ↗

These open Google Maps. Check your actual starting point and current transport information; the decorative route illustration on our homepage is not a navigation map.

    Continuing to Osaka or Kyoto?

The national official directory also lists OSAKA DX in Daimaru Shinsaibashi Main Building 9F, OSAKA in LUCUA SOUTH 13F, and KYOTO in SUINA-MUROMACHI 2F. Use the directory to open the exact current branch page before traveling. In Osaka, confirm whether you mean the Umeda-area Center or OSAKA DX, particularly if you also want the Osaka cafe.

    Before buying merchandise or cards

Set a budget before browsing. Check the product language, edition and any purchase limit for the exact item. A shop’s existence does not guarantee stock, a limited promotion or a particular card allocation. Avoid assuming a Japanese purchase is cheaper after exchange rates, taxes or luggage costs.

For food allergies, accessibility or a special event, use the provider’s current information and contact route. We have not personally tested the shops or cafe and cannot promise a specific shopping or dining outcome.

    • Address: 2-16-2 Sotokanda, Chiyoda City, Tokyo.
    • Official walking estimates: seven minutes from JR Akihabara Station’s Electric Town Exit, or five minutes from JR Ochanomizu Station’s Hijiribashi Exit.
    • Planning allowance: around 30–60 minutes for an unhurried visit, plus travel. This is an editorial estimate, not a timed on-site test.

Find Kanda Myojin on Google Maps ↗ · Official access information ↗

What is the Love Live! connection?

GO TOKYO identifies Kanda Shrine as a setting featured in Love Live!, and JNTO also documents the connection. This makes it a supported series-related destination rather than a place included solely because it resembles a scene. The shrine’s own multilingual introduction also references a Kanda Festival collaboration with Love Live!

Those sources establish the connection. They do not guarantee that a particular collaboration display, charm or limited item is available on your travel date. We are not claiming access to a production set, an official guided experience or every scene’s precise camera angle.

    Which station should you use?

If you are already shopping in Akihabara, it is practical to plan the shrine as a separate stop in the same district visit. The shrine’s access page provides walking estimates from several stations. These figures refer to the named station exits, not the moment your train arrives or the door of the last shop you visited.

Choose the actual approach using the official access map and a current walking route. If avoiding steps matters, check the approach in advance rather than following a fan photograph to a staircase. We have not independently audited an accessible route and do not label every approach step-free.

    A simple visit sequence

    1. Check current notices. Look at the shrine’s website before departure, especially if you want a museum visit or a particular event.
    2. Arrive without a tight deadline. Leave space between shopping and any later booking.
    3. Observe the setting first. Read signs, give worshippers room and follow any staff directions.
    4. Take permitted photographs. Move aside for other people and avoid blocking a path to recreate a frame.
    5. Continue your day. Return to your chosen shopping area or station using a route suitable for your needs.

What to check before spending money

Do not assume that a paid third-party tour is required because a place is associated with an anime. If you want a museum exhibition, a ritual service or an event, check its own current admission and reservation arrangements. These are separate decisions from including the shrine in a neighborhood walk.

For collaboration goods, use current official notices and ask about the exact item. Older travel posts and historical collaborations are not inventory reports. This article includes ordinary official information links; no affiliate booking link is used.

    Photography and everyday respect

The shrine is a living religious place. A favorite character can be your reason for visiting while respect for worshippers shapes how you behave there. Keep voices low where appropriate, leave entrances clear and put photography aside whenever a sign or staff member asks you to.

Do not move offerings or other visitors’ belongings to compose a picture. If the moment is crowded, wait away from the route or choose a different shot. A visit does not need to reproduce a frame exactly to be worthwhile.

Connect this stop with your trip

Use the Akihabara guide for the surrounding shopping day, or the two-day Tokyo itinerary to combine it with Ikebukuro. For another series, follow our pilgrimage planning checklist before adding an unverified location.

How to Plan an Anime Pilgrimage in Japan

A memorable anime pilgrimage starts with one place you care about and a plan that works in the real world. Verify the connection, check whether visitors are welcome and leave enough time to enjoy the destination beyond a single photograph.

Information checked: 24 October 2026 · Research-based guide; no personal visit claimed.

    1. First, identify what kind of connection it is
    2. Build a small evidence file

    5. When an overnight stay makes sense
    6. Bring the story home respectfully
    7. A confirmed place to start
    8. Your pre-departure checklist
    9. Official sources

First, identify what kind of connection it is

A real-world location can be an officially documented inspiration, a licensed attraction, a collaboration venue or simply a place that fans think looks similar. Keep these categories separate when building your wishlist. A character shop is worth visiting for its own reasons, but it does not establish that the surrounding streets appeared in the story.

Start with the work’s official announcements, a local tourism office or the venue itself. GO TOKYO’s anime and manga guide provides examples of places with anime-related connections. Use broad lists to find leads, then check the particular place before committing to travel.

    Build a small evidence file

    • The place’s official English and Japanese names.
    • The source describing the connection and the date you checked it.
    • The current visitor rules and opening arrangements.
    • The station, bus stop or other actual access point.
    • A note distinguishing a confirmed connection from a fan interpretation.

This file can be a simple note on your phone. Its purpose is to prevent an old screenshot or a widely repeated claim from becoming the only basis for your journey.

Check the place before you check the camera angle

Ask whether it is public space, private property, a place of worship or a residential street. Use designated visitor areas and follow signs or staff instructions. If access is not permitted, choose another stop. A scene comparison does not create permission to enter a property.

Keep doorways, pavements, roads and station areas clear. Ask before photographing people or interiors. JNTO’s responsible travel guidance and the Japan Tourism Agency’s etiquette materials are useful starting points for visiting thoughtfully.

Plan one anchor and a backup

Choose the stop that matters most, then make the rest of the day work around it. Check the return journey as carefully as the outward one. For a place outside a major city, the last useful bus or train can be more important than the shortest route displayed in the morning.

Add a nearby museum, cafe or ordinary neighborhood walk as a backup only after checking it exists and is open. Avoid filling every minute: weather, queues and the time you spend enjoying the place can change the day.

When an overnight stay makes sense

Consider staying locally if transport limits would otherwise make the visit rushed, or if you want time for the wider destination. A longer journey does not automatically require a hotel. Compare actual travel times, the evening return and your luggage before booking.

When comparing a paid tour, check the exact stops, language, inclusions, access permissions and cancellation conditions. Do not assume that a tour description guarantees entry to every location associated with a work. Our site currently links to official information rather than selling or arranging trips.

    Bring the story home respectfully

A useful travel memory can be a view, a local meal or a conversation as well as a matched photograph. Buy goods only within your budget and follow the venue’s rules about displays and offerings. Leave the place easy for residents and future visitors to use.

For an easy city-based starting point, explore Akihabara, Ikebukuro or our two-day Tokyo plan. These are culture and shopping guides; they are not claims that every stop is an anime filming location.

    A confirmed place to start

Kanda Myojin and Love Live! is our first series-specific guide. The connection is documented by both GO TOKYO and JNTO; practical access comes from the shrine’s own website. The guide separates that documented connection from unverified promises about current merchandise or events.

    Your pre-departure checklist

    1. Save the Japanese place name and official visitor page.
    2. Recheck entry, opening arrangements and any special-event notice.
    3. Save a route from your actual starting station and a return option.
    4. Check weather and whether the proposed approach has steps.
    5. Choose one backup stop and leave room for a break.
    6. Keep a budget for optional purchases separate from transport and meals.

    Who this plan suits

This route is for a first-time visitor who wants anime and gaming shopping alongside time to explore. It is not a list of every famous Tokyo attraction. The order is a planning suggestion based on the district guides linked below, rather than a route we have timed on foot.

If your trip includes a ticketed exhibition or cafe, fix that reservation first and place shopping around it. If you only have one free day, choose the district that fits your wishlist instead of treating both as compulsory.

Day one: Akihabara at your own pace

Start after confirming the opening time of your first shop. Use the first part of the visit for your essential purchase or browsing priority. Then explore a smaller selection of nearby stores, take a lunch break and keep the afternoon flexible for an arcade or further shopping.

A useful personal rule is to pick three priorities and one optional stop. You can always add more on the day. A detailed collector’s visit can fill a day even within a small area, so do not judge progress by the number of pins on your map.

Read the Akihabara guide for access and shopping checks →

Day two: Ikebukuro and Sunshine City

Use animate’s flagship store and your chosen Sunshine City shops as anchors. Check event arrangements before leaving your accommodation. Keep time between the anchors for food and walking, and use a live map for your precise starting point.

If you have bought more than expected on day one, bring less to carry on day two. Decide how you will protect delicate packaging in rain, and leave room in your luggage before buying large items.

Read the Ikebukuro guide for the two main anchors →

Choose a base using the whole trip

For two shopping days, easy access to a station may matter more than sleeping immediately beside a single store. Compare your airport journey, any other Tokyo appointments, room size and luggage needs. A cheaper nightly price can be less useful if the location adds journeys you do not want.

Before reserving, compare the total for your exact dates, the number of guests, cancellation terms, taxes and payment conditions. If you expect to arrive late, read the property’s check-in instructions. We have not published a hotel shortlist or tested hotel stays for this route yet; no hotel is being recommended here in exchange for a booking commission.

Make a budget you can control

Budget line How to plan it
Transport Price your actual starting points and routes using the operator or a current planner.
Shopping Set a personal cap before browsing; stock and prices vary.
Meals Choose an allowance separate from merchandise spending.
Games and experiences Keep arcade spending separate; verify any reservation’s full charge.
Accommodation Compare the full stay total and cancellation terms for your dates.

There is no fixed all-in price for this itinerary because purchases and individual experiences are optional. Treat any prepaid pass as a separate comparison: add up the journeys you will actually take before buying.

    Save these before departure

    • Your priority shops and Japanese place names.
    • Current hours and any reservation confirmation.
    • Your accommodation address and route back.
    • A backup plan if the priority stop is unavailable.

    Route at a glance

Day 1: Akihabara Station → your priority shops → lunch → optional Kanda Myojin → a flexible gaming or shopping stop.

Day 2: Ikebukuro Station → animate flagship → lunch → Sunshine City and Pokémon Center MEGA TOKYO.

The arrows show a suggested order, not a navigational map or a measured timetable. Use the linked neighborhood guides for saved places and map links.

    If your plans change

    • Only one day? Choose Akihabara for a mixed gaming and electronics browse, or Ikebukuro for the two character-shopping anchors. Do not force both into a short visit.
    • A venue is closed? Keep the rest of the neighborhood day and replace just that stop. A paid replacement is optional.
    • Rain? Reduce outdoor detours and check the route between indoor stops. Shops being indoors does not make the whole journey weatherproof.
    • Less walking? Use one shopping anchor per day and check station lifts and the actual venue entrance before departure.

    Frequently asked questions

Do I need a special anime travel pass?

These two days do not depend on a dedicated anime pass. Compare ordinary fares with any pass you are considering using your actual starting points; do not buy one merely because it is marketed to visitors.

    Is this a guided tour?

No. This is a self-planning article. We do not provide an escort, sell a package or reserve places for you.

    Start with your interests

Ikebukuro works well when anime merchandise and character shops are priorities. That does not mean every visitor needs the same route. Before you go, list the series or characters you want to browse, and decide whether an event is essential or simply a bonus.

First anchor: animate Ikebukuro Flagship Store

animate’s official listing gives the address as 1-20-7 Higashi-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, and describes the store as about five minutes on foot from Ikebukuro Station’s East Exit. Its published hours at our information check were 10:00–21:00. Check the store page again for your date, particularly if you are visiting for a specific event.

Give yourself a defined browsing budget in both time and money. Photograph a wishlist before leaving your accommodation so you can compare names and editions. Events, collaboration food and limited merchandise may have rules different from ordinary shopping; a shop’s opening hours are not proof that an event is available without a reservation.

    Second anchor: Sunshine City

Sunshine City brings shopping and attractions into one complex. The Pokémon Center official shop directory places Pokémon Center MEGA TOKYO on the second floor of Sunshine City alpa, at 3-1-2 Higashi-Ikebukuro. GO TOKYO also highlights character shopping at the complex.

Use the current building directory to find the right entrance and floor. Save that information before setting off: arriving at a large complex is not the same as arriving at a specific shop. Check any dated notices for the shop and treat stock availability separately from opening status.

    A realistic visit order

    1. Reach Ikebukuro and check your exit. Leave time to navigate the station rather than starting a booking countdown at train arrival.
    2. Browse animate. Focus on your priority series first, then explore if you still have time.
    3. Stop for lunch. Keep this flexible unless there is a specific reservation you want to honor.
    4. Continue to Sunshine City. Use the building’s map for your chosen shops.
    5. Keep one optional stop. Add it only if you still have energy and it is open.

Allow a half-day to a day depending on shopping and queues. This is an editorial planning allowance, not a measured walking tour. Use a live route planner for the journeys between stops.

    Weather, luggage and reservations

Indoor shopping can be useful on a rainy day, but the walk between your station, shops and complex is not entirely indoors. Bring a compact umbrella and leave bulky luggage at your accommodation or an appropriate storage facility. Availability and size limits must be checked before relying on storage.

Book only the individual activity you actually need. Do not purchase an unrelated tour because you assume it is required to enter a shopping area. Official shop and venue pages below are the starting points for current rules.

    Keep planning

Combine Ikebukuro and Akihabara over two days. Prefer retro games and electronics? Read the Akihabara guide.

Choose your version of the day

If you care most about… Make this the anchor Leave flexible
A particular anime’s goods animate after checking current product or event information Extra shops after your priority browse
Pokémon merchandise The official shop at Sunshine City Other character shops in the complex
A first taste of the area One store at each anchor Any additional paid attraction

A store map is not a promise about inventory. Search your exact item name on the relevant official site before traveling, and avoid reserving a collaboration event until its date and entry rules match your trip.

Is Akihabara right for your trip?

Choose this neighborhood for a mix of electronics, anime goods, retro games and arcades. GO TOKYO describes Chuo-dori and its side streets as a concentration of specialist shops. It is a shopping district with individual businesses, rather than a single attraction with one ticket or opening time.

If you mainly want a particular character’s current merchandise, identify the relevant shop first. A famous neighborhood does not guarantee a specific item is in stock. Keep a screenshot of the product name and check whether you are looking for a new release, a used item or an event exclusive.

    Getting your bearings

Akihabara Station is served by JR lines, the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line and the Tsukuba Express. Check your operator’s station map: an exit recommended for one railway is not automatically the nearest exit from every platform. For the main Electric Town area, GO TOKYO’s access guidance points visitors toward the Electric Town side.

    A flexible half-day

    1. Arrive and orient yourself. Find your return station entrance and locate your first priority shop before browsing.
    2. Choose one shopping anchor. Radio Kaikan is an option for character-related shopping; GO TOKYO identifies it as one of the area’s anime and hobby destinations.
    3. Leave a separate browsing block. Rather than promising yourself ten shops, allow time to compare two or three that fit your interests.
    4. Take a proper break. Keep food and a seated rest in the plan, especially if you are carrying purchases.
    5. Finish with a gaming stop or another shop. Pick this on the day according to queues, energy and opening information.

This is our suggested planning sequence, not a timed route tested on site. Allow roughly three to five hours as a starting allowance; collectors may want longer. Do not schedule a paid reservation immediately after an open-ended shopping session.

    Before buying a retro game

Check hardware compatibility, language options, voltage requirements for hardware, condition and the shop’s return policy. A familiar box illustration does not establish that a Japanese release works with your console or includes English. Ask staff about the exact item rather than relying on assumptions about a whole platform.

What to book, and what to leave flexible

For this browsing route, there is no single district admission ticket to purchase. Individual cafes, events and experiences may have their own booking rules and charges. Choose those only after checking the operator’s current page. Keep shopping, arcade spending, meals and transport as separate budget lines.

You do not need to stay in Akihabara to visit it. Compare your whole Tokyo route before selecting a hotel, and prioritize convenient station access over a neighborhood name alone.

    Photos and local etiquette

Ask before photographing inside shops and avoid including strangers without permission. Keep bags clear of narrow aisles. If you add a shrine visit, treat it as an active place of worship rather than a photo set.

    Keep planning

Build a two-day Tokyo route or compare your interests with our Ikebukuro guide.

Add a confirmed anime location: Kanda Myojin

Want a stop with a documented connection to a specific series? Kanda Myojin appears in Love Live! The shrine’s official access page estimates seven minutes on foot from JR Akihabara Station’s Electric Town Exit. That is station-to-shrine guidance, not the walking time from every shop in this guide. Follow the official route and current signs; do not assume that a staircase is the only approach.

Keep this as an optional change of pace rather than another shopping task. Allow extra time for a respectful visit, and check separate arrangements for the museum, events or services you want.
